This Live Webinar course provides an introduction to natural hazards. The occurrences of natural disasters on a world scale are increasing. Natural disaster cause tremendous loss of life and/or property damage across the planet. Earthquakes, floods, cyclones (hurricanes) kill several million people each year, with an average worldwide loss of life of about 150,000 people. Annual average property damage exceeds $50 billion. Impact risks and their relation to humans and the environment, depending on the nature of hazards, are spatial and temporal in nature.
