Complete continuing education packages built specifically for engineers registered in the State of Minnesota. Designed to fulfill the entire continuing education requirement.
This package was designed specifically for Minnesota geotechnical engineers looking to satisfy all of the Professional Development Hours (PDH) required by the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience and Interior Design. Currently, engineers (with some exceptions) must obtain 24 professional development hours (PDH). Two of those hours must be dedicated to professional (but not necessarily profession-specific) ethics and those ethics hours must be earned during the proper period (they cannot be carried forward as ethics hours). Practitioners may pursue technical, nontechnical, regulatory, ethical, and business practice needs for a well-rounded education provided the education directly benefits the health, safety, or welfare of the public.
Our Minnesota Geotechnical Engineering package contains the required 2-hour professional ethics course and three technical courses that were selected for their ability to enhance and expand the skills, knowledge, and abilities of practicing professionals to remain current and render competent professional services to the public.
ET-02-001 Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct – 2 PDH
This course presents the philosophical models that guide ethical behavior and examines the standards of ethical conduct in a variety of situations. Decisions from the NSPE Board of Review are reviewed to provide insights into proper ethical behavior.
GE-02-401 Soil Stabilization for Pavements – 2 PDH
This course provides guidance for the design and improvement of the structural quality and workability of soils used for base courses, subbase courses, select materials, and subgrades for pavements construction. Criteria and standards presented in this course apply to pavement construction.
GE-02-110 Soils and Geology Procedures for Foundation Design of Buildings – 5 PDH
This course presents guidance for selecting and designing foundations and associated features for buildings, retaining structures, and machinery.
GE-02-501 Design and Construction of Cut and Cover Road Tunnels – 3 PDH
This course presents the construction methodology and excavation support systems for cut-and-cover road tunnels, describes the structural design in accordance with the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, and discusses various other design issues. It includes a design example that reinforces the design elements of the course.
GE-02-230 Rock Engineering – 12 PDH
This course reviews the history and development of rock engineering and presents the current state of the practice for topics including probability of failure, factor of safety, and determining the acceptable design criteria for construction in rock.
