Oregon Requirements

Continuing Education Requirements for OR PEs

The Oregon State Board of Examiners for Engineering and Land Surveying (OSBEELS) regulates the practice of engineering and establishes continuing education standards. Engineers in Oregon must earn 30 professional development hour credits every two years. Ethics courses are accepted but not required. Oregon does not pre-approve course providers or courses. License renewal is done on June 30th and December 31st of alternating years based on the registrant’s last name.

Listed below are the Oregon professional engineer (PE) license renewal requirements.

December 31st of odd years for last names A through F
June 30 of odd years for last names G through K
December 31st of even years for last names L through R
June 30 of even years for last names S through Z
Provider approval The Board does not pre-approve course providers
Course content approval Courses should be technical in nature and must pertain to the engineer’s license.
Maximum PDH hours to carry over 15 PDH
Online courses No limit on online courses.
