Continuing education requirements for professional engineers in the state of Nevada include earning 30 PDH hours during each renewal period. For PEs, license renewal is biennial and occurs on odd-numbered and even-numbered years depending on the engineer’s last name. The renewal dates are- January 1 of odd-numbered years for those with last names starting with a letter from A-E, January 1 of even-numbered years for licensees whose last names start with a letter from L to R, July 1 of odd-numbered years for licensees whose last names start with a letter from F to K, and July 1 of even-numbered years for licensees whose last names start with S to Z. The maximum number of PDH hours that can be forwarded to the next renewal cycle are 15. Continuing education courses like ethics have to be relevant to the discipline of an engineer and aim at increasing one’s competency.

Required PDH Credits for Nevada PEs

The renewal period for continuing education for professional engineers in the state of Nevada is biennial and the number of PDH hours required is 30. The state’s engineering board is the Nevada Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors (NVBPELS). Licensees should do specific ethical, technical, and managerial courses relevant to their engineering disciplines to improve their skills and competence for licensing.

NVBPELS does not pre-approve course providers. However, the course providers should provide content that is appropriate for professional engineers. The content must improve and increase the skills and competence of engineers. The question of electronic renewal is also important. Indeed, professional engineers can go through an electronic renewal as long as they can present proof that they have undertaken the course. Moreover, the state’s board requires that professional engineers present certificates of completion for continuing education credits. Also, as a professional engineer, you shall keep records of completed continuing education for at least 3 years.

NV PE License Renewal Dates

The license renewal dates are on the 1st of January and the 1st of July. The renewal happens on every odd-numbered year and even-numbered year. The first letter of a licensee’s last name determines the renewal date that applies to him or her. The following is a breakdown of the schedule:

  • A through E – January 1 of each odd-numbered year
  • L through R – January 1 of each even-numbered year
  • F through K – July 1 of each odd-numbered year
  • S through Z – July 1 of each even-numbered year
